Get Behind Our Community Pet Shop with Your Order of Dry Food
How do you know your cat is receiving the nutrition they really need? You're bombarded with cat food commercials, each alleging that their product is better than the others. Pet Pantry in Colorado Springs, CO can help you cut through the chaos. We store a number of cat foods and can aid you in choosing the one that is just right for your precious pet.
Your cat is a hunter, descended from a long line of hunters. Wild cats naturally ate a good range of nutritious food, based upon what they could snag. But your domestic cat is dependent on you to feed them. Pet Pantry has all the foods that will keep them happy and nutritious.
What Nutrients Does Your Cat Need?
For starters, your cat is a carnivore. They need to have meat in some form: animal protein for essential amino acids. This could be chicken, beef, lamb, fish, or eggs. They need fats to supply energy and help absorb vitamins. Vitamins such as A, D, B1, B2, B3, and B6. Minerals including iron, sodium, and chloride. On top of that, some cat foods include carbohydrates, which are digestible and supply energy.
Reading a Cat Food Label
Cat food companies are required to put particular information on their labels, such as ingredients in descending order of weight, and guaranteed analysis, which tells you minimum and maximum amount of nutrients such as fats, protein, and fiber.
Try to find the nutritional adequacy STment, which tells whether the food is meant for an adult cat or a kitten.
Labels consist of feeding instructions, but they're a guideline and not "one size fits all." Your vet's advice takes lead.
Know food descriptions. There's a big difference between "chicken cat food" and "cat food with chicken." Chicken cat food must be 95 percent chicken, while cat food with chicken can have as little as 3 percent. Food called "chicken dinner" (or chicken formula) can be anywhere between 25 and 95 percent chicken.
In any case, look at nutrients in addition to ingredients. After all, nutrition is what your cat needs.

I love it that I can return food my pet dislikes. They keep all my receipts on file so I know which foods we have tried already. They do a lot of rescue support work and have the neighborhood shop atmosphere.
Friendly and helpful staff. Prices for premium pet supplies is surprisingly competitive with online retailers.
Great individual service on leads & harness shopping and fitting! After many poor experiences in various pet supply stores in Colorado Springs and Monument we had literally wasted over $200 in purchases of leads and harnesses that our Westies were able to wiggle out of and escape from. Mikayla spent the time with us necessary to make sure our Westies were properly fitted with the right leads and harnesses. We were allowed to walk our dogs throughout the store to make sure the leads and harnesses were right for them. Cathy (store manager) was very patient in answering our numerous questions over the phone before we made the trip in. Best pet store and service we’ve experienced in over 50 years of dog ownership!!!
Great place for anything you need for your pet. I have been washing my dogs here for years and will continue to do so. The staff is friendly and will do anything to make your experience excellent (they even cleaned up after my dog when he got sick).
Excellent store, great prices, and great customer service.
